Coping with Compassion Fatigue
17 July 2015
All 4 of our TOS clinics were closed on the morning of July 14, 2015 for a TOS all-hands meeting. Staff members from Richmond, Leesburg, Springfield, and Washington DC came together at the Hilton hotel in Springfield, VA. In addition to recognizing our talented and caring staff, this was an opportunity for all staff members of TOS to come together and meet one another face to face.
We had the great pleasure of hosting Dr. Lenka Glassman, a board certified psychologist to come and speak to us on the topic of Compassion Fatigue. We recognize that working in the veterinary oncology field can be extremely rewarding but is also frequently stressful and challenging. mThis was a great learning opportunity for our, doctors, technicians, assistants, and customer service representatives as Dr. Glassman spoke about how to recognize and manage the effects of compassion fatigue. We hope that we can all use this lesson to better care for ourselves and others while we also constantly strive to be the best for our patients.
We apologize if the altered schedule on this date was inconvenient for any of our clients or patients but we know that providing our team with opportunities to learn and work together in these areas is what allows us to provide the best possible care to you and your pet.
